I have a 7 year old female maltese... she eats small breed pedigree food, and sometimes she sneaks people food... she never gets sick, and seems healthy.

Please don't feed your dogs avocado - it is toxic, but is quite appealing to dogs. Also toxic are grapes, raisins, currants, macadamia nuts, raw eggs, mushrooms, citrus fruit, green potatoes and tomatoes. However, small chunks of raw carrot are a crunchy delicious treat and keep their teeth and breath fresh too.

I have just bought a 3 month old Maltese dog. I am feeding it, as per vet instructions twice a day, a vegetarian diet. For the last two days the dog is having difficulty passing a stool and a few times I have seen blood. He just does a little at a time, continuously. Would this have anything to do with the food he is eating. I have checked his stool to see if there are any parasites but cannot see anything.

Due to the dry air in my apartment, my 4 yr old Maltese appears to be itching. She rolls on the carpet as if to scratch.
What should I do? Thanks, Jonnie

Ref: Maltese food. I have lived 24/7 - 5 yrs. with my male Maltese. ANY people food, creates vomiting and lethargy. Forget anything with Wheat-he is allergic to it. Have run into other owners with Maltese sensitive tummys. I use Wellness Lamb Mix.-I gave him a taste test with Wellmess samples and he chose Lamb. Drinks purifed water in a clean bowl daily.
